Manufacturing for Biomedical Applications

The Laboratory of Manufacturing for Biomedical Applications is a controlled environment designed for producing medical devices and bioarchitectures for cell cultures. It features instruments and equipment for advanced biomechanical design, fabrication and characterization. The BioMBS Lab is a multidisciplinary space with numerous national and international collaborations aimed to manufacture diverse biocompatible applications including in-vitro models, scaffolds, bioinks, customized substrates and bespoke implants.

Research Projects involve undergrads, postgrads, PhD candidates and Post-Docs. Our mission is to create a center where different expertises can work together in a non competitive atmosphere and promote honest open science and collaborations to facilitate direct access to innovative solutions and technologies developed in an inclusive environment. Different ideas, perspectives and experiences from several backgrounds are integrated to shape future professionals. We collaborate with leading 3D printing companies, spin-offs and start-ups interested in biomanufacturing. We also collaborate with EU, US and International Institutes for students exchange programmes, PhD visiting, projects calls and conferences committees.
